The practical course is aimed at students, composers, professional 
performers, educators and amateurs wishing to gain and build basic technical and interpretive conducting skills.

All active participants will receive up to 3 hrs podium time conducting:

2 pianos

Professional String Quintet

38 piece professional orchestra

All sessions will be filmed for individual video review.

​

​

The course is structured to provide all students with daily technique
sessions, score preparation and rehearsal techniques.

​

The course will cover the following:

- Technique

- Role of the conductor as leader and visionary

- Score preparation

- Rehearsal technique

- Introduction to Studio conducting

- Conductor as a Concert Performer

 

Participants will conduct in a final studio or public concert forum, a performance which will be video recorded.

Course Structure

Week 1 will include a conductor’s overview, technique, and podium time conducting 2 pianos and a string quintet, with video reviews.

 

Week 2 will include podium time with 38 piece professional orchestra, with each session video reviewed.
